Online teaching for the autumn term of the 2021/2022 academic year
The Rectorate Board of the University Goce Delchev – Shtip has passed a Resolution to prepare and organize online teaching for the autumn term of the 2021/2022 academic year.
The Rectorate Board has made this Resolution in accordance with the analysis done in the previous terms when online teaching has been conducted, also with the current situation with the pandemic and the recommendations from the eligible institutions. Since the start of the pandemic and the end of the summer term in 2021, all the activities have been conducted online through the Microsoft Teams platform, and UGD became distinguished as a University that quickly adapted to the new needs caused by the circumstances.
The current situation with the pandemic shows a rise of the number of infected people, an expansion of a variant that is more virulent and the number of vaccinated young people is very low; therefore, there is little hope that we can be back in the classrooms currently. The Resolution states the following: “UGD cannot predict with certainty when it will be possible to function normally, but we can plan in advance and follow the recommendations and obligations in order to be fully prepared for the autumn semester in the academic 2021/2022”.
The Rectorate board has defined concrete activities with given deadlines that need to be conducted and completed by the start of the term, and encompass the conditions with the students’ books, the teaching in Microsoft teams, the schedule for the online lectures, the conduct of online teaching, the online midterm testing through e-learning, the coverage of the students’ programs, the lists of students for the following term and the creation of courses in Microsoft Teams as well as a questionnaire for the educational and scientific staff and the students in relation to the online teaching process.
On the other hand, the University will organize teaching and other activities in the institutions’ premises in accordance to the recommendations from the relevant institutions and will prepare additional regulations that will have to be followed.
Theoretical teaching i.e., the lectures, the individual teaching and the other forms suitable for a particular scientific field, consultations and instructive teaching, individual scientific work (such as research of literature, seminar paper, project work) will be conducted online in accordance to the schedule determined by the separate faculties of the University Goce Delchev – Shtip.
Practical teaching (practical exercises, laboratory and clinic work) will be conducted COMBINATORY (both online and with physical presence in accordance to health protocols) depending on the specialty of the scientific discipline and the number of students in the laboratories and other premises of the University following the schedules of the faculties at the University Goce Dlechev – Shtip.
For the conduct of the exams, the midterm tests and the other forms of continual assessment, FACULTIES WILL EXPRESS THEIR DECISIONS in relation to the chosen form of conduct. There are two options to conduct these activities – online or with physical presence. The activities organized with physical presence need to be in accordance to the protection measures and current regulations determined by the country, and also in smaller groups and with temporal distancing. This does not apply to the foreign students.
The exams, the midterm test and other forms of assessment of knowledge, the presentation of bachelor thesis, master thesis and doctoral dissertation for FOREIGN STUDENTS will be conducted ONLINE.
The defense of the bachelor and master thesis, and the doctorate dissertations can be conducted as COMBINATORY (meaning online or with physical presence), depending on the period of conduct and the current restrictions applied by the country, and only in the presence of the members of the committee, the candidate and one or two people accompanying the candidate. The way of conduct should be chosen in coordination with the mentor, the candidate and the members of the committee.
